Child Safety Compliance
The AELC is committed to child protection in line with the Government regulations for religious organisations.
Our Child Safety Statement:
“The Australian Evangelical Lutheran Church (AELC) Darling Downs Parish including Aubigny St Johns, Greenwood St Pauls, Oakey Trinity, Toowoomba Bethlehem, Lowood Our Saviour, and Marburg Trinity is committed to providing services to children and young people to encourage them to make appropriate relationships/friendships, build their personal character, and learn about the Biblical teachings in line with doctrine of the AELC. Our organisation is committed to:
- ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people and will provide a safe and supportive service environment for children and young people by having open and appropriate conversations;
- maintaining the physical safety of the environment used;
- supporting children and young people to share their ideas, thoughts and concerns;
- appropriately keeping required records and documentation; and
- referring children and young people to the help of their families or other professional services where proper.

Child Safety Training:
All Sunday School Teachers, Pastors and Vicars of the AELC are up to date with Child safety requirements for training by completing the “Introduction to the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations” online course and being familiar with our Child Protection and Risk Management Policy.
For Sunday School Teachers: Please complete your Training before July 1 by clicking the below button to the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) Learning Website, creating an account (if you don’t yet have one), clicking on the Find Learning Tab and selecting the FREE “Introduction to the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations” course.
Once complete, please email your certificate to childsafety@aelc.org.au
This training needs to be renewed every two years. You will get an email to remind you before you are due to complete this again.

Our Weekly Bulletins also include a Children’s Address to engage children in an age appropriate way with the teachings during the worship service. You can view, download or print copies from the Children’s Addresses Page. These can also be printed in a large easy reading font for children learning to read.
