The logo of the Australian Evangelical Lutheran Church (AELC) is comprised of a dove swooping down to an open Bible, with a cross and golden wattle coming out of the Bible. Each aspect of the logo is purposeful and meaningful to represent who the AELC is.
Firstly, the red background symbolises the blood of Jesus that covers all our sin. Second, the cross shows that the AELC preaches Christ crucified for the sins of the whole world. Third, the open Book represents the Bible, Holy Scripture. The only Source of Our Faith as the AELC is the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Fourthly, the dove symbolises the Holy Spirit, by whom we understand and discern the truth of Scripture. Furthermore, the Golden Wattle, which is the National Flower of Australia shows the connection which the Evangelical Lutheran Church has to Australia. Finally, the Five ‘Solas’ – Latin for “alone” – are the fundamental beliefs of Christianity regarding Salvation, and also the key principles of the Reformation. These beliefs are that Salvation is by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to Scripture alone, for the glory of God alone.
