Children’s Programs

Sunday School

Each Congregation of the AELC has a Sunday School Program.

As we believe it is important for children to participate in the Divine Service and be present during church, we have our Sunday School Classes before or after the Divine Service.

We use a program entitled Enduring Faith from Concordia Publishing House for our weekly lessons. This material follows a three year plan, with each student receiving a coloured work book. Children also learn memory work from the latest Small Catechism which leads into the expanded version that they will use for confirmation. Enduring Faith also utilises the Lutheran Service Book (LSB), the hymn book we use during worship, and the Lutheran Study Bible. This curriculum offers age appropriate learning of the Bible from toddler age through to confirmation age (early high school).

While the resources are provided by the congregation, parents are welcome to view the product details by viewing Concordia Publishing House.

Our Weekly Bulletins also include a Children’s Address to engage children in an age appropriate way with the teachings during the worship service. You can view, download or print copies from the Children’s Addresses Page. These can also be printed in a large easy reading font for children learning to read.

Young Adults and Youth (YAY)

The AELC currently has a Young Adults and Youth Program (called YAY) held at St Johns Aubigny monthly. To view the upcoming event dates, visit the What’s On page.

At YAY, we play interactive games, enjoy each others company and conversations, eat some supper and delve into a topic of interest for devotion.

Our devotions are on topics of interest requested by the young adults and youth who attend. Past topics have included faith, prayer, legalism, predestination, pride, hell, baptism, the resurrection, Christian creeds, how should we respond to the government as Christians, and how should we view war as Christians.

All high school aged youth through to mature-aged young adults are welcome to attend.
